Biography

Heather Teskey is Vice President of Marketing at Andersen. She has led marketing across advertising, financial services, SaaS, and manufacturing, with nearly 17 years of it at Hallmark and senior roles at U.S. Bank and Deluxe.

She earned a marketing degree from Colorado State and started in loyalty marketing at The Lacek Group in Minneapolis, about 50 people at the time. Six months in, she walked past the head of business development's office and was asked whether she wanted to help open an office in Australia. She said yes. The two of them arrived with one 90-day contract and a goal of staying. They stayed four years, became agency of record for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and grew to roughly 20 people across Sydney and Auckland. She calls it her mini MBA.

Back in the Twin Cities she worked on H&R Block at Campbell Mithun before moving to the client side at Hallmark, where she spent the bulk of her career building B2B marketing.

Eight to ten years after leaving Hallmark, she still has breakfast once a quarter with her old marketing leadership team. None of them work there anymore. She offers it as what a long game looks like.

She describes her leadership as hustle and heart, and she is precise about the difference between nice and kind. Nice waves at the new neighbor. Kindness invites them in. Kindness is also what has the hard conversation, because people deserve to know what is holding them back. Of Andersen, whose first stated value is humility, she says it is where she will finish her career.

  • Heroic Leadership, Chris Lowney. Four principles drawn from the Jesuits and applied on Wall Street: self-awareness, ingenuity, heroism, and love. Heather points to the fourth as the one that gave her language she had never used at work.
